A Joint Communiqué was issued here today to mark the official visit of Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense, to Japan. Following is the text of the communiqué: "At an invitation of Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense, paid an official visit to Japan from 18-21 February 2014 corresponding to 18-21 Rabea II 1435 H. At Haneda airport in Tokyo, the Crown Prince of Japan welcomed HRH Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz. The Emperor of Japan held a luncheon party in honor of Crown Prince Salman at the imperial palace. Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe then held a meeting in Tokyo on 19 February 2014 and discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and regional and international issues of mutual concern. The two sides recalled the visit of Japan's Crown Prince and his wife to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1994 as well as the visit of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to Japan in 1998 who was then Crown Prince, the visit of late Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to Japan in 2006 and the visit of Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to the Kingdom last year whereas the two sides issued a joint communiqué and decided to enhance a comprehensive partnership between the two countries towards stability and prosperity. During his visit to Japan, Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz and Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe expressed appreciation of the notable progress in the bilateral, economical and cultural relation. They also expressed the determination of the two sides to strengthen the comprehensive partnership in all fields within the joint communiqué issued on the e30th of April 2013 and continuation of research and cooperation at all levels.
