A magnitude-6.1 earthquake jolted wide areas of northern Japan Sunday, the Meteorological Agency said, according to dpa. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property. No tsunami warning was issued. The epicentre of the 12:43 pm (0343 GMT) quake was off the eastern coast of Aomori prefecture, at a depth of 50 kilometres, the agency said.
