Nearly 2,000 migrants of various nationalities were brought into Italian ports, dpa cited the country's authorities as saying Wednesday. As part of Italy's Mare Nostrum maritime search-and-rescue mission in the Mediterranean, the coast guard brought 1,003 migrants, including 49 women, into the city of Reggio Calabria, after they were picked up over the past days south of Sicily. An additional 958 migrants managed to reach the Sicilian city of Pozzallo.
