German unemployment fell more than forecast in July, with the seasonally adjusted numbers of the out of work dropping by 12,000 from June, the labour office reported Thursday, according to dpa. The decline pushed the total number of unemployed in Europe's biggest economy down to 2.898 million in July. Analysts had expected unemployment to sink by 5,000 this month. The unemployment rate was unchanged at 6.7 per cent. In seasonally unadjusted terms, unemployment rose by 39,000 to 2.871 million, the labour office said, resulting in the unadjusted rate rising from 6.5 per cent in June to 6.6 per cent this month.
