A bomb blast Thursday rocked Kano in northern Nigeria, killing at least one and injuring eight, police said. According to dpa, police chief Aderenle Shinapa told journalists the explosive was placed upon a refrigerator used to sell drinks in a central motor park. "We confirmed the death of a woman selling wares near the site of the blast. Eight other people were taken to hospital for treatment," he said. Adamu Lamido, a witness, said more people were killed. "Seven boys selling sachet water were blown to pieces by the blast. We all ran helter skelter for our lives," he told dpa.
