A tropical depression in the Atlantic Ocean has weakened to a tropical wave as it approaches the eastern Caribbean Sea, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami said Wednesday. The weather system's maximum sustained winds were near 55 kilometers per hour (kph), it was centered about 590 kilometers east of the edge of the Caribbean, and it was moving west-northwest near 41 kph, the NHC reported. Forecasts say the storm, which is expected to continue to weaken, will move quickly westward through the Caribbean on Wednesday evening.
