Faisal, former governor of Makkah region, Vice Chairman of the Committee Prince Sultan bin Salman, SCTA President, from which an executive committee has been established under the chairmanship of Prince Mishaal bin Majed, Governor of Jeddah province, reflecting positively on the increasing financial allocations for historical Jeddah projects, which aim to maintain and develop the region and make it an attractive urban area preserving its cultural and heritage value. During his visit to historical Jeddah for the opening ceremony of the First Architectural Heritage Forum, held in early 2012 in Jeddah, Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz announced that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has adopted the restoration of the first two historic mosques in historical Jeddah; Al-Shafi'i mosque and Al-Me'mar mosque.
