The U.S. Geological Survey reported Monday that a magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck overnight in northwest Alaska. The quake hit roughly 32 kilometers east-northeast of Noatak, which is about 724 kilometers west-northwest of Fairbanks. A dispatcher for Alaska State Troopers in Wasilla indicated that she had not heard of any damage.
