Jordanian King Abdullah II met here today with US Permanent Representative to the United Nations Samantha Power. During the meeting, King Abdullah stressed upon the depth of Jordan's strategic partnership with the United States, expressing Jordan's keenness to boost the ties in various fields to best serve the interests of both the countries. King Abdullah II reviewed the latest developments related to the Syrian crisis and its repercussions on the neighboring countries, and Jordan's position which calls for a comprehensive political solution to the crisis that ends the suffering of the Syrian people and preserves the unity of Syria's land and people. The King praised the support offered by the UN and its relief organizations, urging the international community to shoulder its responsibilities and support Jordan to enable it to continue providing services to the refugees. The US official hailed Jordan's role in addressing the repercussions of the Syrian crisis and renewed the UN's support to Jordan to deal with these repercussions. She also praised the efforts of the King in dealing with issues and challenges facing the region.
