AlHijjah 18, 1434, Oct 23, 2013, SPA -- Jordanian King Abdullah II met here today with the UN and Arab League envoy to Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi, who is currently visiting Jordan as part of his tour of the region. The Jordanian King, who reviewed the latest developments in Syria, reiterated Jordan's supportive stance towards efforts aimed at finding a comprehensive political solution to the Syrian crisis that puts an end to the bloodshed and preserves the unity of Syria and its people. King Abdullah II stressed his readiness to provide all support to ensure the success of Brahimi's mission. He warned that the continuously deteriorating situation in Syria, the rise of violence and failure to reach a political solution, will exacerbate the sufferings of the Syrian people and increase the number of Syrian refugees, the largest number being hosted by the Kingdom of Jordan. The envoy briefed the Jordanian King about the efforts exerted in dealings with all the parties as well as preparations to hold the Geneva 2 Peace Conference later next month.
