Itar Tass News Agency today organized a seminar titled "Trends of Global Inclination in the Media" with the participation of a number of international news agencies in the attendance of Bahrain's Minister of State for Media Affairs Samirah Rajab, President of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) Abdullah bin Fahd Al-Hussein and a number of GCC and international news agencies. The participants discussed the issues related to challenges and problems facing news agencies to do their jobs when they manage to cover hot issues and incidents all over the world. They also discussed the ethics of the profession, the impact of social media outlets on spreading the news and their effect on adding new complications on the ethics of the job in terms of authenticity, calling for reviewing the role of ethics of the profession and readiness to match with the rapid changes in the new media. They pointed out to the fact that the social media outlets have turned to be a new platform to launch news, a new development of transmitting news. The participants also made a comparison between the government-run and private news agencies on how each tackle news. Director General of Itar Tass Sergei Mikalov gave an account on a number of important news circulated by the social media outlets proving to be false.
