Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski's conservative VMRO party have won a snap parliamentary election, falling short of a majority, the state election commission said Monday, according to dpa. The VMRO won 61 seats in the 123-strong parliament, one seat short of a majority, according to the commission's projections. The opposition Social Democrats won 34 seats. VMRO candidate Gorge Ivanov won a second term as president, defeating SDSM-backed Stevo Pendarovski in a run-off also held on Sunday.
