Macedonians were voting for the country's new president Sunday, with the incumbent and his main challenger certain to go to the run-off in two weeks, dpa reported. Opinion polls predicted a neck-in-neck race between President Gorge Ivanov and the candidate of the opposition Social Democrats, Stevo Pendarovski. Opinion polls gave Pendarovski a slight lead over Ivanov, who was backed by the ruling conservative VMRO-DPMNE party. For a first-round triumph, the winner must collect more than 50 per cent of all registered votes. With that out of reach, the second-round is certain to take place on April 27.
