Legislative and executive authorities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have expressed support for the Royal Order, issued this evening, appointing Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz as Deputy Crown Prince along with his position as Second Deputy Premier. In separate statements to the Saudi Press Agency, the Speaker of the Shura Council Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Shiekh lauded the Royal Order also mandating that Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Crown Prince, be pledged allegiance as Crown Prince once the position of the Crown Prince is vacant, and be pledged allegiance as King of the state once the positions of the King and the Crown Prince are vacant at the same time. Al Al-Shiekh said the order was based on the religious and legal reasoning to achieve the national unity. He said the selection of Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz for this post is a precedence in the organized political art in the Kingdom, a state based on Sharia law and increases the rule foundation more firmness and strength. It is a modern embodiment of the deep-rooted Islamic pledge of allegiance since the date of the Caliphates following prophet Mohammed's death. For their part, Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, the Governor of the Northern Border Region, as well as the Minister of Justice, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, who is also the Chairman of the Supreme Judiciary Council, each lauded the Royal Order, saying that it came in the interest of stability and progress of the country and people.
