Voting began Sunday in Serbian snap elections that are expected to produce an unprecedented win for the ruling Progressive Party (SNS), dpa reported. The SNS, led by the country's most popular politician Aleksandar Vucic, forced the elections halfway through the parliament's term saying that it wanted a stronger mandate for reforms. Vucic announced plans for the vote in late January, days after the European Union launched membership talks with Serbia, a process that will take years of negotiating and tough reforms. Virtually all pollsters predicted a landslide triumph for the SNS, with the only question open whether it will claim more than half of the 250 seats in parliament.
