Border guard of Jazan Region managed to foil two attempts to smuggle weapons and fireworks, it was reported here today. Information spokesman of the border guard in Jazan Region Brig. Abdullah bin Mahfouz said a number of persons coming from Yemen have crossed the border into Saudi Arabia, carrying bags on their backs. Once intercepted by the patrol on duty, which fired warning bullets, they managed to fire at the patrol. Firing back at them, the patrol controlled the scene forcing them to flee back and leave their payloads which contain 19 rifles, 19 magazines and 300 bullets. The same scenario took place few days ago, with the only difference that they were carrying their things on donkeys. The materials captured included nine cartoons weighing 126 kilograms of fireworks, bin Mahfouz added.
