The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stressed that its participation in Geneva 2 Conference comes in confirmation of the Kingdom's approach and continuation of its efforts to reach a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis since the early days of its outbreak in March 2011 AD. This came in a speech delivered by Prince Saud Al-Faisal, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Head of the Kingdom's delegation to the international conference on Syria " Geneva - 2 " hosted by the Swiss city of Montreux today. Following is the text of the speech: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, Your Excellencies, His Excellency the Secretary General of the United Nations, May Allah's peace, mercy and blessings be upon you. We meet today and the Syrian crisis is nearing the end of its third year , without a glimmer of hope to stop the ongoing bloodshed of the Syrian people, and various kinds of the destruction and devastation in Syria, which made this crisis, the biggest disaster in modern history. The Kingdom's participation in this meeting comes in confirmation of its approach and continuation of its efforts to reach a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis. Since the early days of its outbreak in March 2011 AD, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud initiated conducting five direct contacts with the Syrian regime in an attempt to dissuade it from the use of unjustified violence and urge it on peaceful initiatives to meet the limited demands of its people; but the regime refused and was arrogant and insisted on continuing to use violence to the extent of resorting to a military solution by using more lethal and destructive weapons, even the regime went too far in its stubbornness when it used chemical weapons, without a shred of conscience or the slightest respect for international laws that prohibit the use of this weapon. However, the Kingdom has continued in its efforts to take a peaceful solution tirelessly, along with its brothers in the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Group of Friends of Syria; but all these efforts have been crashed in front of the regime's stubbornness and insistence on resolving the conflict militarily, even if the matter requires the use of mercenaries, opening the land of its country to foreign occupation, fragmenting Syria's national unity and threatening its territorial integrity. --More 16:19 LOCAL TIME 13:19 GMT تغريد
