The Speaker of Majlis Al-Shura Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh said that the Arab world is passing through many critical and dangerous challenges and developments requiring the discussion of their dimensions and repercussions politically, economically and socially and following better methodological approaches to address and mitigate their negative effects on our Arab peoples. He stressed in a speech distributed at the 20th Conference of Arab Parliamentary Union concluded in Kuwait yesterday that the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people constitute the central issue to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, renewing the Kingdom's emphasis on its firm stance and support for this issue emanating from its support for the Arab peace initiative adopted at Beirut Arab Summit in 2002 with no acceptance of any amendments to it, adding that the Kingdom supports efforts to establish a Palestinian state with its capital Al-Quds, salutes the struggle of the Palestinian people to liberate Al-Aqsa Mosque from the Israeli brutal occupation, and condemns the decision of the Israeli occupation authorities on the construction of 1,400 new housing units in the West Bank, including Al-Quds in repeated and flagrant violation of the international legitimacy resolutions. On the situation in Syria, Dr Al Al-Sheikh said that the Kingdom has repeatedly expressed condemnation of all acts of repression and bloodshed against the Syrian people and confirmed at this stage the need to provide the guarantees necessary for the success of the path of a negotiating peaceful solution of Geneva Conference 2 to reach an agreement on the formation of ruling transitional executive full authority.
