Naimi and Dr. Moniz paid a visit to the offices of the National Committee for Clean Development Mechanism , where they were received by Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Assistant Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources for Petroleum Affairs and Chairman of the National Committee for Clean Development Mechanism. The Prince briefed them on the Center's works. He talked about the Kingdom's efforts in the field of energy consumption conservation, noting that the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources proposed in 2007 the establishment of Saudi Center for Energy Efficiency and the proposal was supported by all relevant authorities with the aim of uniting the efforts of these authorities to rationalize and raise the efficiency of consumption energy in the Kingdom , and as a gesture to counter the growing consumption of energy. The Prince pointed out that the center began the preparation and development of a comprehensive national program to rationalize and raise the efficiency of energy consumption in 2012 , in coordination and cooperation between all parties concerned with energy in the Kingdom, indicating that the program activated the initiatives of rationalization of energy consumption in three key sectors consuming more than 90% of the primary energy in the Kingdom including buildings, transportation, and industry. The two ministers commended the great efforts made by the Committee to achieve its objectives and rationalize the Kingdom's consumption of energy. The meeting was attended by Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Assistant Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources for Petroleum Affairs; Prince Faisal bin Turki bin Abdulaziz, Adviser at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources; and a number of the Ministry's senior officials.
