A teenage boy drowned and more than 23,000 people fled their homes as floods caused by days of heavy rains worsened in Malaysia, dpa quoted state police officials as saying Wednesday. In the eastern state of Pahang, most areas in the capital Kuantan were submerged, according to a police official who said 11,721 people had been evacuated from their homes. The north-eastern states of Terengganu and Kelantan also suffered floods with 4,067 and 232 people fleeing their homes, respectively. In the southern state of Johor, 7,412 people fled their homes.
