At its second session which was held here this afternoon, IV News Agencies World Congress discussed the topic of social media and other digital news platforms. The President of the Saudi Press Agency and President of IV News Agencies World Congress Mr. Abdullah Bin Fahad Al-Hussein and heads of news agencies in the world were present at the session. It was chaired by Eric Carvin, Social Media Editor, Associated Press, and participation of Maha Abouelenein, Head of Global Communications and Public Affairs Middle East & North Africa, Google, Caroline Frost, a member of the Huffington Post in UK, and Darren Watters, Head of Devices and Social Media, MSN UK. Eric Carven opened the meeting by talking about the importance of social networks and their ability to bring news and facts. In turn, Abouelenein highlighted news delivery through smart phones and said that news agencies are still able to retain their audience because of its credibility. Caroline Frost recalled past work of the agencies calling on news agencies to meet the needs of visitors of their web sites. Darren Watters highlighted the credibility and respect of these agencies. At the end of the session, Abdullah bin Fahd Al-Hussein, President of SPA and President of the IV News Agencies World Congress, delivered certificates and souvenirs to the participants.
