Presidents and Directors General of News Agencies start arriving in Riyadh to take part in the 4th News Agencies World Congress (NAWC) as well as the 41st General Assembly of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) to be hosted by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), representing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, at Ritz Carlton hotel in the city of Riyadh from 17 to 21 November 2013. Sheikh Mubarak bin Duaij Al-Sabah, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General of Kuwait News Agency, and the accompanying delegation arrived in Riyadh. At King Khalid International airport, Al-Sabah was received by Abdullah bin Fahd Al-Hussein, President of the Saudi Press Agency, and a number of officials. In an arrival statement, Al-Sabah underscored the importance of the conference which will be held under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud under the theme "Re-formation of a News Agency in the 21st Century" and with the attendance of a big number of officials and representatives of news agencies, press institutions and world TVs in the Arab world's largest international media event. The conference ushers in a new era of Arab international cooperation in the field of information, he said, noting that it would contribute to improving the performance of news agencies and enhance their role in transmitting facts, information and news in an objective way to get advantage from the vast advancement in the field of modern media tools and methods in addition to upgrading the level of press skillfulness and protecting journalists from imminent risks while on duty. He explained the conference is held amid tangible information development in the region that confirms the pivotal role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the service of Arab and Islamic nations in all fields.
