The 37th General Assembly of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) concluded meeting here today by issuing a final statement. The Kingdom"s delegation to the meeting was led by the Director General of Saudi Press Agency (SPA) Abdullah bin Fahd Al-Hussein. The statement said that the decisions taken during the meeting focused on activating the role of Arab news agencies which are considered as the main sources of news and information in Arab countries. The directors of Arab News Agencies welcomed the Kingdom"s call for holding the World Media Conference 2013, stressing that the output of such a conference will be beneficial to all Arab news agencies, press and media. FANA 37th General Assembly has elected the Chairman of the Middle East News Agency (MENA) Abdullah Hassan as FANA Chairman for the next two years; the Director General of Qatar News Agency Sheikh Jabr bin Yousef bin Jassim Al Thani as FANA Deputy Chairman; and the Director of Kuwait News Agency Sheikh Mubarak Duaij Al-Sabah as FANA Deputy Chairman. Also, FANA 37th General Assembly has elected four directors general of Arab News Agencies as members of the General Secretariat, including the Director General of Saudi Press Agency (SPA) Abdullah bin Fahd Al-Hussein.
