U.S. stocks closed higher Wednesday, as the Dow and S&P 500 both rose to another record. The dollar gained ground against the euro, the pound, and the yen. Light sweet crude oil for December delivery rose 84 cents to $93.88 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Gold futures dropped $2.80 to $1,268.40 an ounce. The Dow Jones industrial average climbed 70.96, or 0.45 percent, to 15,821.63. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index moved up 14.31, or 0.81 percent, to 1,782.00. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index gained 45.66, or 1.16 percent, to 3,965.58.
