U.S. stocks closed higher Friday, with the Dow and the S&P 500 hitting new record highs. The U.S. dollar strengthened against the euro, the pound, and the yen. Light sweet crude oil for June delivery dropped 35 cents to $96.04 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Gold futures fell $32.00 to $1,436.60 an ounce. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 35.87, or 0.24 percent, to 15,118.49. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 7.03, or 0.43 percent, to 1,633.70. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index moved up 27.41, or 0.80 percent, to 3,436.58.
