AlHijjah 24, 1434, Oct 29, 2013, SPA -- The Arab Parliament lauded, during the closing session of its General Assembly held at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo today, Saudi Arabia's rejection of a UN Security Council seat, citing the world body's failure to solve any of the Arab tense issues on the ground for several years. In a statement, the Arab Parliament said the UN Security Council's position towards Arab issues is really less than satisfactory, noting that the Palestinian problem remained on the desk of the Security Council for decades, particularly the Israeli occupation of Arab territories, the Council's two-measure policy towards international issues that threaten world peace and security and finally its continuation to be subject to dictations from super powers. Describing the Saudi decision not to go on the UN seat as genuine, the Arab Parliament called on the Security Council to draw lessons from the Saudi message, specially as regards the evaluation of its positions and policies towards the Arab issues on its agenda. On the Palestinian issue, the Secretariat General of the Arab parliament is drafting a thanking letter to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for approving a projected budget worth $200 million in support of Palestinian cities, lauding the Kingdom's political and financial support for the Palestinian people in general. --More 21:50 LOCAL TIME 18:50 GMT تغريد
