In a statement issued today, "the Palestinian presidency, and while it supports the stance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia regarding the necessity of the Security Council to assume its duties in preserving security, peace and the rights of people, expresses its gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for his wise and right directives to turn the Security Council into an effective and strong organization." "On this occasion, the Palestinian presidency highly appreciates the political and economic support granted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Palestinian people and their just cause," it added. The Palestinian Presidency expressed thanks to and appreciation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' statement regarding the Kingdom's apology for not accepting membership of the Security Council.
