AlQa'dah 23, 1434, Sep 29, 2013, SPA -- The Saudi Human Rights Commission participated in the 68th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York. Dr. Ahmad bin Saleh Al-Saif, member of the Saudi Human Rights Commission, represented the commission during the meeting. In his speech during the meeting, Dr. Al-Said said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia based on the principles on Sharia in dealing with the disabled people without discrimination. "The Kingdom sought to find legal framework for enhancing their rights where the Kingdom issued a regulation to take care of their affairs and a package of legislations organizing health and social care and education for them in addition to privileges and fee waivers granted by the government for people with disabilities," he added. Dr. Ahmad stressed that the Kingdom signed an agreement on the rights of people with disabilities as well as the relevant international conventions of human rights. On the sidelines of the session, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia organized a forum on challenges and achievements in implementation of the millennium development aims for women with disabilities.
