Chief of Human Rights Commission of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Turki bin Khalid Alsidairi confirmed the interest of the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to further enhance the concepts of human rights and pay attention to this issue in a way that safeguards its ethical and cultural values. In a key addresses before the U.N. Human Rights Council's first session in Geneva today, Alsidairi vowed that the Kingdom would cooperate with the world community to the interest of the security, safety and stability of the world society. He reiterated that the Kingdom prescribes its laws and legislations from the rules of Islamic Sharia which considers all mankind as equal and calls for tolerance and harmony. The Saudi government also confirms that maintaining human rights lies on governments in the first place and are supported by civil society organizations and relevant international establishments. He told them that Saudi Arabia has recently set up a national commission for human rights that undertakes its responsibilities with full independence and transparency to assist in maintaining human rights.
