Fire at Russian Mental Institution Kills at Least 14

AlQa'dah 07, 1434, September 13, 2013, SPA -- At least 14 people died in a fire at a home for mentally ill people near the central Russian city of Veliky Novgorod early Friday, dpa reported.
About 60 people were in the building when the fire broke out shortly before 3 am (2300 Thursday GMT), the Itar-Tass news agency reported.
Most managed to escape, but the regional government said at least 14 had died. Emergency services were still trying to determine the final death toll, Itar-Tass said.
