Taliban fighters attacked a US base in eastern Afghanistan near Pakistan border Monday, an official said, according to DPA. "A huge explosion took place in the parking lot of the NATO and US supply trucks in Mohmand Dara district near Torkham border," Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, spokesman for the governor of Nangarhar province, said. "Three militants wearing the national and border police uniforms opened fire on the security forces," Abdulzai said. Police said several NATO supply trucks caught fire. "We can confirm a systematic attack on a NATO base in eastern Afghanistan," coalition spokeswoman Jeanette Spain said. "There is no report of the NATO troop casualties."
