An Afghan official says NATO is carrying out airstrikes against an empty school building in eastern Afghanistan occupied by an unknown number of Taliban, according to AP. Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, a spokesman for the Nangarhar provincial governor, says that coalition and Afghan troops are also engaged in a gunbattle with the insurgents who took control of the school. Abdulzai says that an unknown number of Taliban took over the school early Sunday in the Khewa district of the eastern province. The school was empty as the students are on summer break. NATO had no immediate comment.
