The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia called upon the UN Security Council to hold an immediate meeting on Syria to issue a clear and deterrent decision putting end of the humanitarian tragedy in this country. In a reply to a question by the French press agency on the attacks took place today in Damascus, Prince Saud Al-Faisal, Minister of Foreign Affairs, said that it is a time now for the Security Council to assume its responsibilities and to overcome the differences among its members, and regain the confidence of the international community through holding an immediate meeting to put an end to this human tragedy. He added that we also demand the foreign ministers of the European Union who are holding an emergency meeting in Brussels to be this humanitarian tragedy a base of their discussions. " We and the world shocked of this humanitarian and horrible massacre in a number of Syrian cities by using chemical weapons which are forbidden internationally and resulted in killing of hundreds of innocent civilians, mostly women and children," Prince Saud said. Prince Saud concluded that the kingdom repeatedly warned the international community of the size of the heinous tragedies and massacres committed by the Syrian regime against its people and cautioned of a continuation of inaction which would lead to more tragedies.
