Khalid Mohsen Shaeri, a Saudi national suffering from overweight, was given a lift to arrive at Riyadh airbase aboard an evacuation flight to receive treatment upon instructions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Al-Shaeri, weighing 610 kg, was coming from Jazan to have medical treatment at Riyadh-based King Fahd Medical City (KFMC). He was accompanied by a medical crew on the special plane. At the airport, he was received by Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Humaidhi, Head of medical team in charge of transferring the case, and Dr. Mahmoud Yamani, Executive Director general of KFMC. A hypothetical experiment to pick the patient from a second floor apartment in Jazan to an ambulance and then to the evacuation plane was conducted earlier this week by a multi-lateral team to ensure his safety.
