year-old Tuqa Al-Shuatr from Jordan weighing 145kg arrived in the Kingdom on April 3 at the invitation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah, who had seen her on Al-Arabia TV appeal for someone to help her lose weight. Upon arrival at Riyadh airbase, Tuqa, along with her parents and sister, were rushed to the Middle East's most advanced clinic for the treatment of obesity at King Khaled University Hospital. Now after a month of treatment Tuqa is ready to go home leaving behind the 32kg that she has lost as a result of the treatment that she has received at the hospital. The medical team at King Khaled University Hospital that oversaw her treatment held a farewell party for her on Wednesday after the successful gastric bypass operation she underwent in the hospital by the order of King Abdullah. Dr. Ayed Al-Qahtani, head of the medical team said the therapeutic plan had effectively helped to reduce Tuqa's weight by 32kg within a month and that the treatment prescribed by the medical team helped her to sleep and eat normally as she was suffering from apnea when she arrived in the Kingdom. Dr. Al-Qahtani said the team put Tuqa on a strict diet which proved its effectiveness in reducing her weight significantly, pointing out that Tuqa would continue the diet when she returns home and that the medical team would closely follow her case until she reaches her ideal weight which is 40kg. He assured her family of her sound health and that she has fully recovered from post operation complications.
