The United States is "extremely disappointed with Russia's decision to grant asylum to Edward Snowden and said it could damage relations between the countries, the White House said Thursday, according to dpa. The move has forced reconsideration of US President Barack Obama's plans to attend the G20 summit in Russia in September, spokesman Jay Carney indicated. Asked if the move would impact Obama's visit to Russia and plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Carney said: "Obviously this is not a positive development. We are evaluating the utility of a summit." Carney said asylum for Snowden "undermines long standing law enforcement cooperation" which had been on upswing after the Boston Marathon bombings. He said the US was "extremely disappointed that the Russian government would take this step despite our requests in public and in private." -- SPA 011714 GMT Aug 13 20:32 LOCAL TIME 17:32 GMT تغريد
