Russian and Afghan Foreign Ministers Sergei Lavrov and Rangin Dadfar Spanta signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the war on drugs, Itar-Tass reported. “We share a common view with the world community that the main obstacle to Afghanistan's peaceful and constructive development is terrorism and drug trafficking as well as related organized crime,” Lavrov said. “Today we made an important step in increasing the efficiency of the struggle against these threats – we signed an agreement on anti-drugs cooperation.” Afghan Foreign Minister Rangin Dadfar Spanta has accepted an invitation to take part in the Moscow conference on Afghanistan that will be held on March 27.
