The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States called on the UN Security Council, based on its responsibility to maintain international security and peace, to convene urgently to lift the siege on the city of Homs, and to prevent the illegitimate Syrian regime and its allies from committing massacres and atrocities against the people of the city and its countryside. The GCC states also called on the Secretary General of the United Nations to assume his responsibilities in this regard under the Charter of the United Nations. The call came in a statement released today by the General Secretariat of the GCC States on the siege of the city of Homs by the forces of the Syrian regime and its allies.
