Tropical Storm Cosme was strengthening Monday in Pacific waters southwest of the Mexican mainland, with forecasters saying it is expected to become a hurricane within a day. The storm's maximum sustained winds rose to 95 kilometers per hour (kph) Monday. The U.S. National Hurricane Center said that more strengthening is expected in the coming 48 hours with Cosme expected to become a hurricane sometime Tuesday.
