Tropical Storm Kiko strengthened off Mexico's Pacific coastline and forecasters warned that the storm's outer bands could kick up strong waves, winds and rains on land, reported by ap. The tropical storm was expected to strengthen to a hurricane by Sunday, but forecasters at the U.S. National Hurricane Center said its eye was expected to move northwest, parallel to the coast and well off shore before moving out to open sea. With the storm 150 miles (240 kilometers) southwest of the port of Manzanillo early Saturday, a tropical storm watch was issued for a stretch of Pacific coast from Manzanillo to Cabo Corrientes. The storm had maximum sustained winds of 95 kph (60 mph) and was inching toward the northwest at 7 kph (5 mph).
