The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia called for the need to stop the Israeli violations against the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territories, stressing that it is effectively contributing in regional and international efforts to promote human rights in the State of Palestine and alleviate the sufferings of its people. This came in the Kingdom's speech today before the 23rd session of the UN Human Rights Council on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, which is currently being held in Geneva. The speech was delivered by Mishaal Al-Otaibi, Second Secretary at the Kingdom's Diplomatic Mission to the United Nations in Geneva. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expressed support for the recommendations made by the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories Richard Falk, stressing the importance of concerted international efforts to implement these recommendations that would alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people and pave the way for the establishment of a Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital. It also stressed that various international reports confirmed that the situation is tragic and the violations of the rights of the Palestinian people are continuing, while Israel still insists on ignoring international resolutions and mechanisms, including its rejection to cooperate with the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories Richard Falk, whose report highlighted the sufferings of Palestinians as a result of the blockade imposed on Gaza Strip and the massive violations arising from the policy of settlement expansion. Al-Otaibi also said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reaffirms that the construction of Jewish settlements in all occupied Arab territories is incompatible with the international legitimacy and contradicts paragraph 6 of Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention.
