Arab Health Ministers underscored the importance of General Assembly of WHO's decision to adopt a comprehensive plan to monitor the non-communicable diseases which threaten the public health together with contagious diseases in the Arab countries. In a speech read on their behalf before the WHO General Assembly in Geneva today by the Sudanese Minister of Health, they pointed to the welcome of the Arab Developmental Economic and social summit's Riyadh Declaration 2013 calling for combating non-infectious diseases in the Arab world and Middle East. The ministers also demanded the WHO to evaluate the health situation inside the occupied Palestinian territories and contribute to the rehabilitation of the health infrastructure in Palestine. They demanded the world community to mobilize efforts to confront the devastating effects of the armed conflict in Syria and the humanitarian and environmental disaster suffered by the Syrian people.
