Saeed Al-Khotani Saudi Gazette RIYADH — The Kingdom Monday started its participation in the 62nd session World Health Organization General Assembly in Geneva that will continue until May 28. The Kingdom's delegation is headed by Dr. Mansoor Al-Hawwasi, Deputy Minister for Health Affairs. Other members from Ministry of Health are: Dr. Ziad Maimish, Undersecretary of Ministry of Health for Public Health; Dr. Rafat Hakeem, Director General of communicable Disease; and Dr. Mohammed Saidi, Director General of Hereditary and Chronic Diseases. Dr. Col., Ali Al Barrak represents Military Medical Services. According to Dr.Khalid Marghalani, spokesman of the Ministry of Health, the delegation will participate in two extra meetings on the margins of the WHO meeting. The first meeting will be the regular 40th session of the Arab Health Ministers Council. “The Kingdom has asked the Council to include coronavirus issue for discussion in the agenda of the meeting along with the issues of ethics of organ implantation and the recommendation made by the Council of Health Services in the Kingdom on ways to deal with patients with implanted organs,” he said. Also, the Council will discuss health situation in the Arab territories occupied by Israel in West bank in Palestine, East Jerusalem, and Golan Heights and will listen to a report by the Palestinian Health Minister on the health situation in these territories. Arab Ministers will base their support on his briefing. Also, the Council will discuss supporting Sudan in fighting yellow fever in Darfur region. The second meeting will be the 75th session of the Gulf Arab States Health Minister Council. “Malaria-free Arab peninsula initiative, combating non-communicable diseases, anti-smoking campaigns, occupational health and the health of externally recruited labor, and the evaluation of the Qatar Hospital for Osteotherapy and Athletic Medicine in Doha will be discussed, “ Dr. Marghalani said.
