The Civil Defense authority has received and positively and immediately responded to as many as 2834 distress calls from citizens and expatriates in Riyadh Region, bringing to nearly 50,000 calls dealt with by the Civil Defense all over the Kingdom since the beginning of the heavy rains and floods two weeks ago, officials said today. In a statement, the Media Spokesman of Civil Defense Col. Abdullah Al-Orabi Al-Harthi said more than 700 rescue personnel and 300 equipment and machineries were deployed to help the stranded. Three vehicles flooded by rain water were rescued in Al-Jullah and one man in Nisah valley in addition to numerous electric defaults in northern parts of the city of Riyadh. He said 19 families were accorded refuge and shelter in a number of furnished apartments in Qassim Region and four vehicles left ignored in some valleys and low streams in Al-Miznab Province. The bodies of the two missing in Al-Aqiq valley in Al-Baha Region were found, bringing to 26 the number of those killed in floods recently all over the Kingdom. Search is going on to pick two more still missing one in Hail and the other in Al-Baha, he added.
