President Mahmoud Abbas of the State of Palestine arrived in Beijing on Sunday for talks with President Xi Jinping and other Chinese leaders. He will conclude three-day visit to China on Tuesday. China's special envoy for the Middle East, Wu Sike, met Palestinian officials in late April to prepare for the visit. Wu was quoted as saying by DPA that China wanted to promote the resumption of Israeli-Palestinian peace talks. Leaders of China's ruling Communist Party backed efforts to "resume the stalled negotiations between the two sides based on a two-state solution," Wu said. China supported the establishment of a Palestinian state based on 1967 borders with east Jerusalem (Al-Quds) as the capital, the official Xinhua news agency quoted him as saying in Ramallah.
