Afghanistan's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ahmed Omar Khail has commended historical and deep-rooted relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan dating back to 1932. This came in a press statement on the occasion of the signing of General Cooperation Agreement between the two countries on 16/06/1434 AH corresponding to 26/4/2013, on the sidelines of the conference of countries participating in Istanbul Initiative for Afghanistan "Heart of Asia" in Kazakhstan. The agreement was signed by Prince Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia and the Foreign Minister of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Dr. Zalmai Rassoul. The Afghan Ambassador praised the Kingdom's positions in support of the Afghan people, pointing out that the Kingdom's aid is still going on whenever it is needed, noting in this regard to the recent directive of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for the establishment of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cultural Center in Kabul, in addition to the provision of 200 scholarship grants in various disciplines to the Afghan government .
