U.S. stocks closed higher Friday, as investors cheered the latest report on the U.S. job market. The dollar fell against the euro and the pound, but rose versus the yen. Light sweet crude oil for June delivery gained $1.62 to $95.61 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Gold futures dropped $3.40 to $1,464.20 an ounce. The Dow Jones industrial average moved up 142.38, or 0.96 percent, to 14,973.96. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 16.83, or 1.05 percent, to 1,614.42. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index rose 38.01, or 1.14 percent, to 3,378.63.
