Arab Parliamentary Union conference welcomes the start of activities at King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to enhance dialogue among followers of religions and cultures
Arab Parliamentary Union conference, currently ongoing in Kuwait, today welcomed the start of activities at King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Center for dialogue among followers of religions and cultures which was opened in the Austrian capital of Vienna in November 2012. The final communique of the APU underscored the importance of differentiating between terrorism and the right of oppressed peoples in resistance for liberation from colonization and in restoration of their legitimate rights according to international charters and resolutions. The conference lauded the United Nations approval for establishing an international center for combating terrorism as per an initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, Speaker of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led his country's delegation to the conference. The conferees described occupation of others' land as the most brutal form of terror, strongly condemning the State terrorism practiced by Israel on all Arab occupied territories. They drew a line between non-religious terrorism and Islam, the religion of tolerance and peace. The conference also denounced Iran's continuous interference in internal affairs of GCC countries, considering it a flagrant violation of their independence and sovereignty and calling on Iran to desist from such practices and to commit itself to the principles of good neighborhood and international laws, charters and norms, the solution of differences in peaceful ways and direct dialogue and non-use of force or threat, citing the importance of preserving the security and stability of the Kingdom of Bahrain in particular. --More
