The 5th meeting of Asian Parliaments Federation confirmed the rights of the Palestinian people and other Arab rights, calling on the world community to support the Palestinian people in their struggle to establish their independent state and to end the continuing conflict in the Middle East and make the region free of mass destruction weapons. This came in the final communiqué of the federation's meeting which was attended, among delegations of more than 33 countries, by the Chairman of Shoura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Dr. Salih bin Abdullah bin Homaid. The conferees demanded that the United Nations undertakes its responsibilities towards the people of Iraq; puts an end to violence and destruction; maintains the national unity of the country and guarantees its independence and unity of its territories; supervises the forthcoming general elections and guarantees its fairness and freedom. They also supported the idea of holding an international conference under the supervision of the United Nations to agree on a definition of terrorism, confirming that terrorism was never linked with a certain religion or culture or country and underscoring the importance of differentiation between terrorism and the right of people in defense of themselves or their territories. The next meeting will be held in Thailand.
