The United Nations on Tuesday unanimously condemned "in the strongest terms" the killing of five Indian troops and seven civilians belonging to the UN mission in South Sudan. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said the attackers who ambushed a UN convoy in South Sudan committed a war crime that could be prosecuted by the International Criminal Court at The Hague. The UN Security Council joined Ban in condemning the killing and demanded that the South Sudanese government apprehend the attackers and bring them to justice. The US State Department in Washington condemned the attack and offered its condolences to India. "We call on the government of South Sudan to conduct a full investigation and ensure the perpetrators are brought swiftly to justice," spokesman Patrick Ventrell said.
